Dutch Durqa Dan (or alliteration > accuracy)

The Dutch government agreed on Friday a total ban on the wearing of burqas and other Muslim face veils in public, justifying the move on security grounds.
We’re approaching dangerous American levels of idiocy in name of security here in the good ol’ frogland. Is it any surprise that elections are little more than a week away?
It is a totally empty gesture that is supposed to communicate to Geert Wilders/Pim Fortuijn-voters that “Yeah, we hate them filthy stinky muslims just as much as you do” while pleading with the left spectrum of the public “Those women are being repressed!”.
But what do we actually gain from this legislation? About as much as war is good for. Only about forty women in the Netherlands wear the banned apparel, which would explain why I, having lived in the Netherlands my entire life, have never seen a woman in a burqa.
I’m not at all sympathetic to the people who feel women should wear burqas (I have no idea if this is the correct plural form) but I feel that banning something is one of the most dangerous things you can do. It will only proof to Muslims that the Dutch government does not care about them.
Thankfully I’ll be doing my part next week to vote these idiots out of office.
