A Swarm Of Angels: movie by committee

A Swarm Of Angels is a wonderful idea. Create a movie that will be distributed with a Creative Commons license. Only thousands of geeks will be making it. Together.
Now let’s just suppose this project even approaches something resembling complete (which is a whole another bag of trouble), it’s going to be horrible. Thousands of geeks will each be trying to make their dream movie, realizing that this is their only shot at ever accomplishing that. The movie is going to lack a single creative vision, it’s going to be all over the place and not any good at all.
Now if there were a single person who was made all the decisions (let’s just call him the director for fun), how is this any different from a normal movie? Other than people are working with each over the internet instead of on the same set/office. That’s not really impressive.
Internet projects are doomed to failure. That’s all there is to it.
